Hi, I'm Elise Berns!

I created the independent publishing company Blue Quail Books while bringing my own small stories to life. Based in Ellensburg, in central Washington State, my focus is on stories for children and adults in the Pacific Northwest. Sharing books you've created yourself on ink and paper with loved ones (and the world) is exciting and fulfilling.

Author & Illustrator
As an Author, my stories are shaped by what I love and what I would love to teach my son. I love nature around Washington state, the wonderful places to visit and the animal & plant life. I enjoy adding education to my books through counting or identifying species as well 'how things are made' through my pottery book. My Illustrations are all done 100% myself (no AI or clipart here!), I enjoy freehand drawing or Illustrating through Adobe Illustrator. I hope you find as much joy in my books as they've given me to create them.
